Location and geography
It is located in the prefectural boundary of the Fukuoka Prefecture west and Saga Prefecture.
Itoshima City is located in the Itoshijma Peninsula, which is in the western part of Fukuoka Prefecture. The beautiful coastline facing the Genkai Open Sea lies in the north and the Sefuri Mountain Range rises in the south. In between, the gentle and rural countryside, called the Itoshima Plains, spread out. The urban district runs along JR Chikuhi Line and Route 202.
Itoshima is bordered by Fukuoka City to the east, Karatsu City in Saga Prefecture to the west and Saga City in Saga Prefecture to the south. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get from Tenjin in Central Fukuoka City, to either JR Chikuhi Line Chikuzen Maebaru Station or to Maebaru Interchange using Nishi-Kyushu Expressway.
It is conveniently located as there is direct access to Hakata Station and Fukuoka Airport.
